How to Transfer Subscriptions to Whop from Stripe, Skool and More
Quick answer
Only card subscriptions in a Stripe account you own transfer to Whop automatically. Whop Migrations moves active and trialing ones of $1 or more with each member's card and renewal date, and members do nothing. Members billed by Skool, Patreon, Gumroad, Stan, Teachable or Kajabi Payments re-subscribe. Give them a hidden plan at their current price with a free trial that ends on their old renewal date, then cancel the old billing.

Before you start
Do the prep before any member hears about the move, because a cancelled subscription can't be restored and some exports expire.
- Check who bills your members: a Stripe account you own, or the platform itself (table below).
- Download every export while you still have full access. Kajabi's export links expire after 3 days.
- Keep the old platform running. Closing a Podia account cancels its subscriptions, and cancelling your Kajabi account doesn't stop customer subscriptions from billing.
- Pick two dates: launch day, when your Whop opens, and a deadline, when the old space closes.
- Build your Whop products and pricing first, and buy your own plan once to test it. The free migration tool creates them through Whop's official API.
Which subscriptions transfer to Whop automatically
Only card subscriptions that live in a Stripe account you own. Whop Migrations, announced on June 17, 2026, copies those subscriptions with each customer's saved card, so members keep paying on their usual renewal date without doing anything. Stripe is its only source. Whop says more platforms are coming but hadn't named any as of October 3, 2026.
Every other paying member re-subscribes on Whop, for one of three reasons:
- The platform is the seller. Skool, Patreon and Gumroad are the merchant, and Hotmart collects payments on your behalf, so the cards never leave them.
- The platform runs its own processor. Kajabi Payments, Stan Store, Teachable Payments and SamCart's SamPay keep cards in accounts you can't connect to Whop.
- Your Stripe holds the cards, but the platform runs the billing. Memberful and Kartra charge cards on their own schedule, so Whop Migrations finds no Stripe subscriptions.
To check any platform, open the Subscriptions page in your Stripe Dashboard (under Billing). If your members appear there as active subscriptions, Whop Migrations can see them. If the page is empty, plan on re-subscribing. PayPal subscriptions and Apple or Google in-app subscriptions don't transfer either.
Subscription transfer paths by platform
Payment paths as of October 2026, from each platform's help center and our migration tool's platform data. "Whop Migrations" means active and trialing card subscriptions of $1 or more in your own Stripe. Members paying by PayPal, Link, ACH, SEPA, crypto or through an app store re-subscribe. Sources at the end of this page.
| Platform | How paying members move to Whop | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Circle | Whop Migrations (card subscriptions) | Paywalls bill through your own Stripe. Members who subscribed in a branded app (Apple or Google) re-subscribe. |
| LaunchPass | Whop Migrations (card subscriptions) | LaunchPass bills through your own Stripe. ACH, SEPA and crypto payers re-subscribe. Members then link Discord or Telegram on Whop. |
| Podia | Whop Migrations (card subscriptions) | Podia bills through your own Stripe. Don't close Podia until the migration finishes: closing it cancels its subscriptions. |
| Mighty Networks | Whop Migrations (card subscriptions) | Web subscriptions live in your own Stripe. Apple in-app subscriptions from branded apps re-subscribe. |
| LearnWorlds | Whop Migrations (card subscriptions) | Subscriptions run on your own Stripe. |
| Kajabi | Depends | Your own Stripe: Whop Migrations. Kajabi Payments: members re-subscribe. |
| SamCart | Depends | Your own Stripe: Whop Migrations. SamPay: customers re-subscribe. |
| Thinkific | Depends | Stripe Direct: Whop Migrations. Thinkific Payments: Thinkific support has to move them to your Stripe first. |
| ClickFunnels | Depends | Stripe direct: Whop Migrations, if your Stripe shows active subscriptions (check first). Payments AI: customers re-subscribe. |
| InviteMember | Depends | Members paying through your Stripe: Whop Migrations. Other processors: re-subscribe. |
| Systeme.io | Depends | Whop Migrations may move them if your Stripe shows active subscriptions. Check first. |
| Skool | Re-subscribe | Skool is the merchant of record and has no public API or billing export. |
| Patreon | Re-subscribe | Patreon is the merchant. |
| Gumroad | Re-subscribe | Gumroad is the merchant of record. One-time buyers can get free access through a claim link. |
| Stan Store | Re-subscribe | Stan processes payments itself, on a Stripe account it controls. |
| Teachable | Re-subscribe | Teachable runs the billing schedule, even with a custom payment gateway. |
| Hotmart | Re-subscribe | Hotmart collects payments for you. |
| Kartra | Re-subscribe | Kartra runs the billing schedule even when the cards sit in your Stripe. |
| Memberful | Re-subscribe | Memberful runs billing itself. Export before you close it, because closing deletes your data. |
Our playbooks for moving from Skool to Whop, Kajabi to Whop, Patreon to Whop and leaving LaunchPass for Whop cover each platform's other quirks.
Steps
Seven steps cover both paths. Only steps 4 and 5 differ between Stripe members and re-subscribers.
Step 1: Sort your members by how they pay
Split paying members into a Stripe list and a re-subscribe list using the table above. A "Depends" platform can give you both: on Kajabi, members billed through your connected Stripe can move while Kajabi Payments subscribers re-subscribe, and the Provider column in Kajabi's subscriptions export shows which is which.
Put one-time and lifetime buyers on a third list. They don't owe you a renewal, so they get free access instead of a subscription.
Step 2: Export your members and their renewal dates
The next-charge date is the field that matters, because it sets how long each member's free trial on Whop should be. Where to find it:
- Kajabi: Sales → Subscriptions → More Actions → Export Subscriptions. The file includes Next Payment Date and the payment provider.
- Stan Store: Income → Download CSV shows each member's last charge date. Add the membership interval to get the next one.
- Gumroad: Sales → Export. Each sale includes its purchase date and recurrence, so the next charge is the last payment plus one period.
- Teachable: Sales → Transactions → Export CSV, then work forward from each member's last charge.
- Hotmart: Subscription Management → Subscriptions → Export.
- Patreon: Creator studio → Audience → Relationship Manager → CSV button. Patreon's API also exposes each patron's next charge date.
- Skool: the Members export includes emails for paid groups but no billing dates. Give every Skool member the same trial of one full billing period, so nobody pays before their paid time runs out.
Then drop the file into the member CSV converter, which cleans it into a Whop-ready list in your browser.
Step 3: Recreate your plans on Whop, plus a hidden plan for existing members
Set up the public plans new members will buy, then a hidden copy for people who already pay you. On Whop, both are checkout links (Dashboard → Checkout links → Create checkout link).
For the existing-members link:
- Use the price and billing period members pay now, even if new members will pay more.
- Leave "Show on store page" unchecked. The link still works when you share it, but it doesn't appear in your store.
- Set Stock (under Advanced Options) to your number of existing members, so a forwarded link can't be used by hundreds of strangers.
- Make it recurring and add a free trial. Whop only allows trials on recurring links.
One-time and lifetime buyers get a free access link with its own stock limit instead.
The migration tool builds this hidden "Existing members" option for you: free claim links for one-time buyers and a matching plan with a trial for subscribers. Whop's API can't add members directly, so every member still claims access through a link.
Step 4: Move Stripe subscriptions with Whop Migrations
If members pay through your own Stripe, Whop moves their subscriptions and they do nothing:
- In your Whop dashboard, open Settings → Migrations → Stripe and enter your Stripe publishable and secret keys.
- Copy the Whop email address shown on screen. In Stripe, add it under Settings → Team with the Data migration specialist role.
- Review the preview scan and exclude any subscriptions you want to handle yourself, by email or Stripe subscription ID.
- Start the migration, then download the CSV report of what moved, what didn't and why.
Active and trialing card subscriptions of $1 or more move if the Stripe customer has an email. Past-due subscriptions, Link, ACH and SEPA payments, and card changes made after the transfer starts stay behind. Whop schedules each moved Stripe subscription to cancel at period end, and Stripe emails the customer about it, so warn members first.
Our Stripe to Whop walkthrough covers each screen and how to hand over your keys safely. Anyone the report lists as not moved joins your re-subscribe list.
Step 5: Line up a free trial with each member's old renewal date
The trial on the existing-members link should end on, or just after, the day the old platform would have charged next. Then nobody pays twice and nobody loses days they already paid for.
Whop sets trial length per checkout link, in days, so group monthly members by how long they have left and give each group its own link:
| Days until the member's next old charge | Trial on their link |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10 | 10 days |
| 11 to 20 | 20 days |
| 21 to 31 | 31 days |
Rounding up gives some members a few free days, while rounding down would charge some of them before their paid time ends. For exact dates, use a second Whop tool after a member joins: open Dashboard → Users → Memberships, click the three-dot menu next to their membership and choose Add free days. That moves their next charge date by the number of days you enter.
Annual members can have months left. Check that Whop accepts the trial length you need, or give them a short trial and add free days once they join.
To reward early switchers, price the hidden plan below your public one, or create a promo code (Marketing → Promo codes) limited to the existing-members link and one use per customer. Codes default to 100 uses and expire a month after creation, so set the limit to your member count and the expiry to your deadline, then test the code with the trial.
Step 6: Announce the switch and send personal links
Tell members early, give them the exact date of their first Whop charge, and send each group its own link: an announcement 14 days out, billing details at 7 days, a reminder the day before, links on launch day, then two deadline reminders. Our migration announcement templates have copy-paste versions of each, for Stripe members and for re-subscribers.
Stripe members need two warnings: Stripe will email them that their old subscription is set to cancel, and any card update must happen before the transfer starts.
Step 7: Cancel old billing without charging anyone twice
Cancel each old subscription once the member is on Whop, and before their Whop trial ends. How depends on the platform:
- Stripe members: Whop already scheduled the moved subscriptions to cancel at period end. Subscriptions that didn't move keep billing in Stripe until you cancel them.
- Skool: Members → Membership Settings → Cancel subscription, which stops billing at the end of the member's cycle so they keep the time they paid for. "Remove from group" cancels and removes them at once.
- Kajabi: cancel each Kajabi Payments subscription after the member joins Whop. Cancelling your Kajabi account doesn't stop them.
- Gumroad: cancel members one by one from your sales, or delete the product once the deadline passes to cancel everyone left.
- Patreon: patrons cancel their own Patreon membership. Patreon's API has no way for an outside tool to cancel pledges, so put the instruction in your deadline email.
- Discord and Telegram bots such as LaunchPass remove members when their Stripe subscription ends. Connect Whop's Discord or Telegram access, have members link their accounts, and remove the old bot before the first scheduled cancellation. Check the fee first: Whop's fee page lists no charge for these apps, but each app's Whop listing says it adds 3% to that product's payments, so budget for both cases (our paid Discord server guide shows the math).
Keep the old platform open until the last old billing period has ended.
Check that everything moved
Run these checks on launch day and again after the first renewals:
- Every paying member is accounted for: moved by Whop Migrations, joined through a hidden link, or on your follow-up list.
- In Stripe, moved subscriptions show as scheduled to cancel.
- In Whop (Dashboard → Users → Memberships), each re-subscriber's next charge date falls on or after their old renewal date.
- A test member can open every course, chat channel and Discord role you sell.
- You bought your public plan once with your own card. Refunds don't return Whop's original fees, so test with a low-priced plan.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A Stripe subscription is missing from the preview scan | It's past due, under $1, paid with Link, ACH or SEPA, or the customer has no email | Add the missing email in Stripe and run the migration again (Whop skips subscriptions it already moved). Send everyone else the existing-members link. |
| Whop Migrations finds no subscriptions at all | Your platform runs billing itself (Memberful, Kartra, Teachable), or you connected the wrong Stripe account | Check the Subscriptions page in that Stripe account. If it's empty, use the re-subscribe path. |
| A member was charged on Whop and on the old platform | The old subscription wasn't cancelled before their Whop trial ended | Refund one charge, cancel the old subscription, and check everyone else in the same renewal group. |
| A member who cancelled and rejoined was charged right away | Whop detects repeat sign-ups and charges full price instead of a second trial | Use Add free days on their membership to move the charge back to their old renewal date. |
| The existing-members link stops working | Its stock ran out, sometimes because the link was shared | Raise the stock, and check the new memberships against your export. |
| The switch promo code stops working | It hit the default 100-use limit or its one-month default expiry | Create a new code with a higher limit. Expired codes can't be reactivated. |
| Discord members lose their role on renewal day | The old bot removed them when the Stripe subscription ended | Connect Whop's Discord access and have members link their accounts before the next group renews. |
What can't be moved (and workarounds)
These stay behind whatever tool you use:
- Cards held by the platform (Skool, Patreon, Gumroad, Hotmart, Kajabi Payments, Stan, Teachable Payments, SamPay), plus PayPal and in-app subscriptions. Fix: a hidden plan with a trial.
- Stripe subscriptions paid with Link, ACH or SEPA. Send a re-subscribe link, or let them bill in Stripe until the member switches.
- Coupons. Recreate them as Whop promo codes, or price the hidden plan at the discounted rate.
- Payment history. Export it before you close the old account.
- The members themselves. Whop can't add members directly, so each one claims access through a link or a migrated subscription.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move paid members to Whop without them re-subscribing?
Only if they pay by card through a Stripe account you own. Whop Migrations moves those subscriptions with the saved card and renewal date, and members do nothing. If Skool, Patreon, Gumroad, Kajabi Payments or another platform holds the cards, no tool can move them, so those members re-subscribe. A hidden plan with a free trial that ends on their old renewal date keeps them from paying twice.
Will Whop Migrations support Skool, Patreon or Kajabi Payments?
Whop's June 17, 2026 announcement says support for more platforms is coming but names none, and Stripe was still the only source on October 3, 2026. Skool and Patreon are the merchants for their sales, and Kajabi Payments keeps cards on Kajabi's platform, so any transfer would depend on those companies releasing card data. Plan on re-subscribing for now.
How long should the gap be between launch day and the deadline?
At least one full billing cycle for re-subscribing members. A monthly member's next old charge can fall anywhere in the 31 days after launch, and the old space should stay open until it does, so nobody loses time they paid for. Annual members need a separate plan: email them individually, or give them a later deadline tied to their own renewal date.
What about annual and lifetime members?
Lifetime and one-time buyers owe nothing, so send them a free hidden access link with its own stock limit. Annual subscribers may have months of paid time left. Give them a trial that runs to their renewal date, or a short trial plus Add free days after they join. Test that Whop accepts the trial length you need before you send their links.
How many members will re-subscribe?
There's no reliable public data on this, and it depends on your audience and offer. What you control is friction: keep their price, make the first Whop charge land on the date they already expect, send one personal link, and set a clear deadline. Track who has joined in Whop's Memberships list and follow up with each person who hasn't.
