How to Cancel Kajabi Without Losing Members or Revenue
Quick answer
Cancel Kajabi last. Cancelling ends your site and member access when your paid period runs out, but it doesn't stop your customers' subscriptions, so you cancel each one yourself. Export your data, move paying members, point your domain elsewhere, then cancel from your Subscription settings. Kajabi refunds only within 30 days of your first charge, so time a yearly plan's exit around its renewal date.

Why the order matters
Cancelling your Kajabi plan is the last step of leaving, not the first. If you're moving to Whop, this is the final stage of our full Kajabi to Whop migration guide; if you're going elsewhere, the order is the same.
Three things in Kajabi's help center make the order matter:
- Cancelling ends access to your account, site and content at the end of your current billing or trial period. Customers can no longer log in, email campaigns stop, and any custom domain is disconnected automatically.
- Cancelling does not cancel your customers' subscriptions or payment plans. They keep being charged until you cancel each one.
- Kajabi may delete customer data 90 days after your account terminates.
So you export first, move your paying members second, point your links elsewhere third, and cancel last. Menu paths below come from Kajabi's help center, checked on October 3, 2026.
Before you start
Gather four facts before you touch anything.
- Your renewal date and billing period. Both are in Settings, under Subscription & Billing. Yearly plans aren't refunded after your first 30 days, so the renewal date sets your deadline.
- Whether you're within 30 days of your first-ever Kajabi charge. If you are, you can still get a full refund.
- How your members pay. The Provider column in your Subscriptions export shows Kajabi Payments, Stripe or PayPal for each subscriber.
- Where your domain is registered, so you can set up forwarding later.
If you're on a legacy plan, don't switch plans or park the account to save money on the way out without reading the parking section below. Kajabi says leaving a legacy plan is permanent.
Step 1: Export everything
Get every file out while your plan is active. Export your contacts, subscriptions, payment plans and a purchase report for each offer, download your course videos lesson by lesson, and copy the things Kajabi can't export, such as email sequences and blog posts.
If you're moving to Whop, line up an email tool before you cancel, because your Kajabi email campaigns stop with your plan. As of October 3, 2026, Whop has no built-in email marketing (no broadcasts, sequences or segments). It sends welcome and goodbye messages with an optional email copy, transactional emails and forum posts by email, so newsletters and sequences need an email app from Whop's App Store or your own email tool. Whop websites have no built-in blog either.
The contacts download link expires after 3 days, so download each file as it arrives. Our Kajabi export guide has the exact menus for every file, plus a checklist to confirm nothing is missing.
Step 2: Move paying members and stop their Kajabi billing
This step protects your revenue. Every active subscriber needs a new home before you cancel, and each Kajabi subscription needs to end exactly once.
Members billed through your own Stripe account have real Stripe subscriptions. If you're moving to Whop, Whop Migrations moves active and trialing card subscriptions of $1 or more that have an email, keeps each renewal date, and schedules the old Stripe subscription to cancel at the end of its period. Stripe sends each customer a cancellation notice, so tell members before you run it. Keep Stripe connected to Kajabi until Whop's migration report shows every subscription has moved.
Members billed through Kajabi Payments or PayPal have to re-subscribe, because Kajabi documents no way to move those subscriptions out. On Whop, our free member migration tool sets up a matching plan with a free trial that ends on each member's next Kajabi payment date. Once a member has joined, end their Kajabi billing:
- In Kajabi, open Sales, then Payments, then Subscriptions.
- Open the menu next to the member's subscription and choose Cancel Payments.
- Choose End of the Current Billing Period, so they keep access until the date they've paid for.
- Click Cancel Payments to confirm.
Only do this after the member has moved. Kajabi says a cancelled subscription can't be reinstated; the customer would have to buy again. Our guide to moving subscriptions to Whop covers deadlines and reminders, and our member announcement templates give you the wording.
Payment plans that are partway through need a decision. You can let them finish before you cancel, or end the remaining installments and give those buyers free access on your new platform. A third option is parking Kajabi for $29 a month while the last installments run: Kajabi says subscription payments keep processing on a parked account, but confirm with Kajabi support that this covers your payment plans before you rely on it.
Step 3: Point your domain and links somewhere else
When your plan ends, Kajabi disconnects any custom domain you connected, and every sales page, checkout and login link on it stops working. The domain registration itself stays with your registrar; Kajabi only stops pointing it at your site.
Decide where visitors should land. If you're moving to Whop, Whop Websites (live since August 2026) hosts a site free at a whop.site address, with Whop checkout built in. You can build it from a blueprint, with Whop's AI or in code. Since October 2, 2026 you can also paste a URL for Whop's AI to rebuild a site's public pages, so try it on your Kajabi pages before they go offline and check the result; it doesn't move members, billing or your domain.
Using your own domain on a Whop website currently goes through Whop's Domains API, not a dashboard setting. Until that's set up, the simplest option is URL forwarding at your registrar, from your domain or the subdomain you used for Kajabi to your whop.site address or Whop store page. You can also point it at a site you control that links to Whop.
Make the switch when your Kajabi pages no longer need to be live, usually the day you cancel. Then update the links in your bio, email signature, video descriptions, podcast notes, pinned posts, ads and affiliate materials. If you only ever used Kajabi's own subdomain, you can't redirect it, so update those links before you cancel.
Step 4: Cancel your Kajabi plan
With members moved and links updated, cancel the plan.
- From the Kajabi dashboard, click your name in the top right corner and choose Account Settings.
- Click Subscription in the sidebar.
- Under Overview, click Change plan. On some plans the button says Upgrade plan.
- Scroll to "No longer happy with Kajabi?" and click Cancel subscription.
- Follow the remaining steps to confirm.
If you don't see a Cancel subscription option, check the top of the Subscription page for a banner saying your account is already scheduled to cancel. Kajabi's help article also links a direct cancellation page for plan types, such as some legacy plans, that don't show the button.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing or trial period, and you can undo it until then: go back to Subscription and click Reinstate account, then Confirm subscription. If you're within 30 days of your first-ever charge, email billing@kajabi.com in that window to ask for the full refund Kajabi's terms promise. If you earn commissions as a Kajabi Partner, they stop when you cancel.
Step 5: Clean up after the plan ends
Kajabi keeps a limited login open after cancellation so you can manage payments. Use it.
- Open Payments, then Subscriptions, and filter by status. Cancel anything still Active, and check for Pending Cancellation entries you didn't expect.
- Handle late refund requests and disputes from the same Payments area; Kajabi says this works for Kajabi Payments, Stripe and PayPal.
- Keep your exported files. Kajabi may delete customer data 90 days after the account terminates, and it emails reminders 14 and 7 days before the final deletion date.
- If you want your data removed rather than left to expire, submit Kajabi's Data Rights Request form. Deletion is permanent, and Kajabi says it completes within privacy-law timelines, giving 30 days as an example.
Yearly plans and refunds
Kajabi's refund window is short. Its terms give a full, no-questions refund within 30 days of your first charge. After that, all payments are nonrefundable, and Kajabi offers no refunds or credits for partly used subscriptions.
For a yearly plan, that means cancelling mid-year doesn't return the unused months. You keep full access until the end of the period, which you can use for an unhurried migration. Set a reminder a month before your renewal date, because Kajabi's help center says yearly renewals bill at its current published price, with no price lock. One r/kajabi user described being billed for a full year they no longer wanted after missing the 30-day window.
Our Kajabi pricing page shows what each plan costs monthly and yearly, if you're deciding whether to stay on a cheaper plan instead.
Should you park instead of cancelling?
Parking pauses your Kajabi account for $29 a month plus tax. It suits a short gap, not a permanent move.
While parked, your site is offline, customers can't reach products they bought, and you can't build or edit anything. Subscription payments keep processing, so pause customer subscriptions first unless you mean to keep charging them. Parking cancels your current plan, forfeits any months left on a yearly plan, cancels account discounts and permanently gives up legacy pricing. To come back, you subscribe to a current plan.
Parking can make sense if a few payments are still due (see the caveat in step 2), or if you might return to Kajabi. If you've moved for good, cancelling costs nothing and parking costs $348 a year. If you haven't picked a destination yet, look at Kajabi alternatives compared on cost or the Whop vs Kajabi feature comparison before you decide.
Troubleshooting
These problems usually trace back to doing the steps above out of order.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Cancel subscription button | Some plan types, including some legacy plans, don't show it, or you're already scheduled to cancel | Look for the cancellation banner, or use the direct cancellation link in Kajabi's help article |
| Customers are still being charged after you cancelled | Customer subscriptions don't end with your account | Log in, open Payments, then Subscriptions, and cancel each one |
| A member was charged on both platforms | Their Kajabi subscription wasn't set to end before their new trial ran out | Refund the Kajabi charge from Payments and end that subscription |
| Old links show an error | Kajabi disconnected your custom domain | Set up forwarding at your domain registrar |
| You need a file after cancelling | Account access ended, and a parked plan doesn't restore content access | Reactivate on a current plan, export, then cancel again |
Frequently asked questions
Does cancelling Kajabi cancel my customers' subscriptions?
No. Kajabi says cancelling your account removes customers' access to your products but doesn't cancel their active subscriptions or payment plans, so they keep being charged until each one is cancelled. After your plan ends you can still log in with limited access, open Sales, then Payments, then Subscriptions, and cancel each remaining subscription from its menu.
Can I get a refund on my Kajabi plan?
Only early on. Kajabi's terms promise a full refund within 30 days of your first charge, requested by emailing billing@kajabi.com within that window. After that, all payments are nonrefundable, with no refunds or credits for partly used subscriptions, including unused months of a yearly plan. If you cancel later, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
What happens to my data after I cancel Kajabi?
Your site goes offline when the paid period ends, and Kajabi's help center says customer data may be deleted 90 days after the account terminates. Kajabi emails reminders 14 days and 7 days before that final deletion date. To get back in before then, you have to reactivate on one of Kajabi's current plans, because a parked plan doesn't restore access to your content.
How do I permanently delete my Kajabi account?
Cancel your subscription first, then submit Kajabi's Data Rights Request form with your country, state, account email and name. Kajabi emails you to verify, confirms the request is in progress, and completes it within privacy-law timelines, giving 30 days as an example. Deletion removes content, customer information and analytics for good, so finish your exports before you submit.
Should I pause my Kajabi account instead of cancelling?
Only if you still need Kajabi to process payments. A parked account costs $29 a month, takes your site offline and blocks customers from their products, but Kajabi says subscription payments keep processing. That can help while a few last payments come in. Parking also cancels your plan, forfeits unused months of a yearly plan and permanently ends legacy pricing.
