Quick answer

The best Podia alternatives in 2026 are Whop (no monthly fee, and Podia's card subscribers can move with their renewal dates), Systeme.io (the lowest cost in our math, with a free plan), Skool (simple paid communities), Teachable and Thinkific (deeper course tools), Kajabi (a bigger all-in-one) and Circle (community depth). For $49 memberships at $10,000 a month, a year costs about $4,575 on Whop and $5,403 on Podia Shaker.

Quick picks

Each option below suits a different kind of Podia business. If you're short on time, start here.

  • Moving your subscribers without asking them to re-enter a card: Whop
  • Lowest running cost, starting on a free plan: Systeme.io
  • A simple paid community where sales tax is handled for you: Skool
  • Course sales with US sales tax and EU VAT handled: Teachable
  • Structured training with certificates and assignments: Thinkific
  • One bigger suite with a branded app on its top plan: Kajabi
  • Community depth, events and live rooms: Circle
  • A little of everything in one plan, at small volume: staying on Podia

We list Whop first because it's the only platform here with a self-serve tool that moves Podia's card subscribers with their renewal dates, and because it's within about $160 a year of the cheapest option at $10,000 a month. We earn a commission from Whop and nothing from the other platforms on this list.

What a year costs on each platform

At $10,000 a month in sales, a year costs between about $4,400 and $8,600 on these platforms, against $5,403 on Podia Shaker and $10,803 on Podia Mover. For each platform we used the cheapest plan that sells subscriptions at that revenue, for a $49 monthly membership. The exception is Systeme.io, where we used Startup, because the Free plan's single course rarely fits a Podia catalog.

Prices as of October 2026, from each company's public pricing and help pages. Plans change, so check before you buy.

Platform (plan used)$1,000/mo in sales$10,000/mo$50,000/mo
Whop (no plan)$457 a year$4,575$22,873
Systeme.io (Startup)$625$4,419$21,277
Skool (Hobby at $1,000, Pro above)$1,381$5,403$22,261
Teachable (Builder)$1,573$6,123$26,341
Thinkific (Start)$1,813$6,363$26,581
Kajabi (Basic)$2,653$7,203$27,421
Circle (Professional, Business at $50,000)$1,933$8,643$33,901
Podia (Mover or Shaker at $1,000, Shaker above), for comparison$1,609$5,403$22,261

Each figure is 12 months of plan price + revenue × fee rate + 30¢ per charge, with one charge per $49 of revenue. We assumed month-to-month billing, US cards on each platform's default or recommended processor, and no add-ons, taxes, payout fees or currency conversion. The fee rates are 3.2% on Whop (2.7% card plus 0.5% billing), 2.9% on Systeme.io, Podia Shaker and Skool Pro, 10% on Skool Hobby, 7.9% on Podia Mover (5% plus Stripe's 2.9%), 3.6% on Teachable, Thinkific and Kajabi Basic (2.9% card plus 0.7% on recurring charges), and 5.6% or 4.6% on Circle (its 2% or 1% fee plus Stripe's 2.9% and 0.7% Billing).

Three things can change the order for you:

  • Systeme.io and Podia don't say whether Stripe's 0.7% Billing fee applies to the subscriptions they create in your Stripe account. If it does, add about $840 a year at $10,000, and Whop becomes cheaper than both at every level.
  • Systeme.io's Free plan costs $204 a year less than Startup if your business fits its limits of 2,000 contacts, 1 course and 1 community.
  • Kajabi Basic caps you at 5 products and 2,500 contacts, and Teachable adds 0.5% on sales where it collects tax, which isn't in the table.

Run your own price and volume through the creator fee calculator.

Why creators look for Podia alternatives

Most reasons trace back to Podia's June 2026 changes to price, limits and the product itself.

  • Prices went up. Archived pricing pages show Mover at $39 a month and Shaker at $89 in May 2026, and Mover at $49, Shaker at $99 and a new $179 Earthquaker plan by June 13, 2026.
  • New caps arrived with the new prices: 50 products, 500 videos and 25 community spaces on Mover, and 150 products, 1,000 videos and 100 spaces on Shaker. Email subscribers above 100, 500 or 1,000 cost extra, for example $70 a month for 10,000.
  • Mover still takes a 5% fee on every sale, and PayPal, affiliates, upsells and Zapier start on Shaker.
  • The "new Podia" moved everything into a community-first home feed. Podia's help center says you can't reach your dashboard until you migrate, and the migration is one-way.
  • Podia has no public API or webhooks, so connecting other tools runs through Zapier.

One r/onlinecourses commenter summed up a common view in March 2026: Podia feels great early, but at higher volume its pricing model gets restrictive unless you move to the top tiers.

The step-by-step Podia to Whop migration plan covers the exit itself.

How we chose these alternatives

Podia publishes comparison pages against Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, Skool and Circle, so we included all five. We added Whop and Systeme.io, which sell a similar mix of courses, downloads and memberships at lower cost. Whop is first for the reason above; everything after it is sorted from cheapest to most expensive at $10,000 a month.

We took prices, fees and features from each company's pricing page and help center on October 2 and 3, 2026; the links are at the end of this page. We didn't buy paid plans to test them for this page. For switching effort, we looked at how each platform handles subscribers who already pay through your Stripe account, because Podia keeps every subscription there.

1. Whop: best for keeping your subscribers through the move

Whop is a pay-per-sale platform with no monthly plan. You create products and attach apps: Courses for video lessons and quizzes, Files for downloads, Calendar Bookings for paid or free one-to-one calls, Events for live sessions, and Forums and Chat for community.

Whop charges 2.7% + 30¢ per US card sale, plus 0.5% on subscription charges, and 1.5% more for international cards. For a Podia-sized catalog of $49 memberships, that's $457 a year at $1,000 a month in sales, $4,575 at $10,000 and $22,873 at $50,000.

Where it's strong:

  • Whop Migrations copies active card subscriptions from your Stripe account, with each member's card and renewal date, and that's where Podia keeps them.
  • There's no plan fee, so costs scale only with sales.
  • Its Discover marketplace has taken a 0% commission since May 12, 2025, and checkout takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and crypto.

Where it falls short:

  • Unlike Podia, Whop doesn't let you plug in your own Stripe account, so your money waits on Whop's payout schedule and risk checks.
  • New accounts face identity verification, possible reserves (Whop's example is 10% held for 90 days) and a $2,500 cap per checkout until approved.
  • Whop's API can't add members directly, so each customer claims access through a link, and course videos need re-uploading.

Switching from Podia: card subscribers move with Whop Migrations as long as Podia stays open until it runs, because cancelling Podia cancels every subscription. One-time buyers get free claim links. Choose Whop if you want the switch to cost you as few members as possible and you'd rather pay per sale than per month.

2. Systeme.io: best for the lowest running cost

Systeme.io is an all-in-one platform with funnels, email marketing, courses, communities and a website, starting on a free plan with no time limit.

The Free plan includes 2,000 contacts, 1 course, 1 community and 3 funnels. Startup costs $17 a month ($14.17 billed yearly) and allows 5 courses and 5,000 contacts; Webinar is $47 and Unlimited $97. Systeme.io takes 0% of sales on every plan, so you pay only your payment gateway. On Startup, a year costs $625, $4,419 and $21,277 at our three levels.

Where it's strong:

  • It has the lowest cost in our model at $10,000 and $50,000 a month.
  • You can connect Stripe, PayPal and several regional gateways, and payments land in your own accounts.
  • Annual plans and Unlimited include a free done-for-you migration of contacts, funnels, blogs, courses, emails and automations.

Where it falls short:

  • Plan caps are tight: 5 courses on Startup, 20 on Webinar.
  • Support is by email only, with no live chat.
  • Its free migration doesn't list subscriptions, so plan on your Podia subscribers signing up again.

Choose Systeme.io if cost is your main reason for leaving and you're willing to run a re-subscribe campaign.

3. Skool: best for simple paid communities

Skool is a community platform built around one feed, a classroom, a calendar, and points and levels that reward activity.

There are two plans: Hobby at $9 a month with a 10% + 30¢ cut of each sale, and Pro at $99 with 2.9% + 30¢ (3.9% + 30¢ on any single charge above $900). Skool is the merchant of record, so it adds EU VAT on top of your price and files sales tax itself. In our math that's $1,381 a year at $1,000 a month on Hobby, and $5,403 or $22,261 at $10,000 or $50,000 on Pro.

Where it's strong:

  • It's simple for members, with one place for posts, courses and calls.
  • Skool files and pays sales tax and VAT for you, where Podia only calculates and collects it.
  • Both plans include unlimited courses, video hosting and live calls.

Where it falls short:

  • Members pay in USD, and Skool's own merchant account takes every payment, so your Stripe and PayPal accounts sit unused.
  • Skool's Growth Boost is switched on by default and keeps 30% of recurring charges from members its Discovery or ads bring you.
  • Skool's pricing options cover group access and courses, so standalone downloads and booked coaching calls need another home.

Switching from Podia: Skool takes payments through its own merchant account, so every paying member signs up again. Choose Skool if community is the whole product. Our Skool alternatives roundup covers where it falls short.

4. Teachable: best for hands-off sales tax on courses

Teachable sells courses first, with coaching and downloads alongside, and gives students iOS and Android apps. It's the closest swap for the course side of a Podia site.

The $39 Starter plan keeps 7.5% of each sale and publishes up to 5 products, so most Podia sellers would start on Builder at $89, which has no transaction fee. Growth, at $189, adds certificates and an API. On US cards, Teachable Payments takes 2.9% + 30¢, then another 0.7% on renewals and 0.5% on sales it collects tax on. Builder comes to $1,573, $6,123 and $26,341 a year at our three revenue levels.

Where it's strong:

  • Teachable Payments collects and pays US sales tax and EU and UK VAT, which Podia leaves to you.
  • Its course tools are mature, with drip, quizzes and offline viewing in the student apps.
  • Its migration specialists say they rebuild your subscription billing inside Teachable and carry over active students.

Where it falls short:

  • Starter's 7.5% fee and 5-product limit make it a poor fit for a Podia catalog.
  • Plans and fees changed several times in 2025 and 2026.
  • There's no course export, and cancelling takes your school offline.

Choose Teachable if your Podia revenue comes mostly from courses and tax paperwork is the part you'd most like to hand off. Compare it head to head in Whop vs Teachable, or see our Teachable alternatives.

5. Thinkific: best for structured training

Thinkific is built for structured learning: certificates, assignments, quizzes and live lessons, plus communities and group orders for companies buying seats.

Its $54 Basic plan can't sell memberships or payment plans, so a Podia seller with subscriptions starts on Start at $109. Grow, at $219, adds the API and lets you use your own Stripe or PayPal for an extra gateway fee. Thinkific Payments takes 2.9% + 30¢ per US card charge and 0.7% more on subscriptions, which puts Start at $1,813, $6,363 and $26,581 a year in our math.

Where it's strong:

  • No self-serve plan limits the number of courses, and each allows up to 10,000 current students.
  • Start adds certificates and assignments.
  • Thinkific collects and remits US and Canadian sales tax, and the free trial runs 30 days.

Where it falls short:

  • Memberships need the $109 Start plan.
  • Basic and Start include 1 community, and Grow 3.
  • Thinkific's help center says there's no direct way to transfer active subscriptions from another platform, so members re-enroll, for example through a checkout link with a coupon.

Choose Thinkific if you sell structured training and need certificates or assignments.

6. Kajabi: best for one bigger suite

Kajabi bundles courses, coaching, a community, email marketing, funnels and a website in one plan, at a much higher price than Podia.

Kajabi's cheapest plan, Basic, is $179 a month, or $143 if you pay for a year; Growth is $249 and Pro $499. On Basic, Kajabi Payments takes 2.9% + 30¢ per US card plus 0.7% on each subscription charge, and connecting your own Stripe instead adds a Kajabi fee of 2%, 1% or 0.5% depending on the plan. Basic works out to $2,653, $7,203 and $27,421 a year at our three levels.

Where it's strong:

  • Every plan includes unlimited marketing emails, landing pages and funnels.
  • Its payments team will move Podia's Stripe subscriptions into Kajabi Payments on request, with renewal dates unchanged.
  • Pro includes a branded mobile app.

Where it falls short:

  • Basic caps you at 5 products and 2,500 contacts.
  • It's the second most expensive option here at $10,000 a month.
  • There's no full course export if you leave later.

Choose Kajabi if you want a larger suite and the price doesn't worry you. Our Kajabi alternatives explain why many creators leave it for the same reasons people leave Podia.

7. Circle: best for community depth

Circle is a community platform with spaces for posts, chat, events and courses, plus live streams, live rooms, gamification and, from Business up, workflows.

Circle's Professional plan is $99 a month, or $89 billed yearly, and takes 2% of each paywall sale; Business is $219 ($199 yearly) and takes 1%. Like Podia, Circle sends payments to your own Stripe account, so you also pay Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢, and 0.7% more for Stripe Billing on subscriptions. That's the priciest result in our table: $1,933 and $8,643 a year at $1,000 and $10,000 a month on Professional, and $33,901 at $50,000 on Business.

Where it's strong:

  • It has the deepest community features on this list.
  • Payments stay in your own Stripe account, as they do on Podia.
  • If your community brings in $100,000 or more a year, Circle's team will migrate your payments at no cost.

Where it falls short:

  • Every sale pays Circle's fee on top of Stripe's.
  • Stripe is the only processor, so there's no PayPal.
  • Email Hub, extra admins and extra live hours are paid add-ons.

Choose Circle if your members come for the community and you can carry the cost. Our Circle alternatives list goes deeper on its trade-offs.

Should you leave Podia at all?

Stay if Podia's mix of products fits and the price still works at your volume. For a small creator selling a little of everything, none of these options copies Podia's bundle exactly.

Podia is still the better choice when:

  • You're on Shaker and sell more than about $33,000 a month in memberships. Its 0% fee plus Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ then costs less than Whop's 3.2% + 30¢, as long as Stripe doesn't bill you its Billing fee.
  • You want every payment to land in your own Stripe and PayPal accounts, with no platform holding funds in between.
  • You rely on Podia's built-in tax calculation, which every plan includes, and you're set up to file the returns yourself.
  • Many customers are partway through payment plans, and you'd rather not run two platforms until they finish.

If price is the only problem, check yearly billing first. It saves $84 a year on Mover, $180 on Shaker and $348 on Earthquaker.

How to move off Podia

The Podia side of a move is the same wherever you go. Export your contacts, each product's customers, your sales and your coupons. Download files one at a time, or better, use your originals. Move your subscribers while Podia is still active, because cancelling Podia cancels every subscription and payment plan, and Podia says they can't be reinstated.

If Whop is your pick, the free migration tool builds your products, course outlines and community apps and sets up claim links, and our guide to moving subscriptions to Whop covers the Stripe step.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest alternative to Podia?

In our math it's Systeme.io: about $4,419 a year on its $17 Startup plan at $10,000 a month in $49 memberships, against $4,575 on Whop and $5,403 on Podia Shaker. That assumes Stripe doesn't charge its 0.7% Billing fee on Systeme.io's subscriptions. If it does, add about $840 a year and Whop comes out cheaper at every level we modeled.

Which Podia alternative lets my subscribers keep their cards?

Whop is the only one here with a self-serve tool for it. Whop Migrations copies Podia's Stripe card subscriptions with their renewal dates. Kajabi migrates Stripe subscriptions into Kajabi Payments on request, Circle's team does it for communities with $100,000 or more a year in revenue, and Teachable's specialists rebuild subscription billing. On Skool and Thinkific, members sign up again.

Is there a free alternative to Podia?

Systeme.io has a free plan with no time limit: 2,000 contacts, 1 course, 1 community and 0% transaction fees, though you still pay your payment processor. Whop has no monthly fee and charges per sale. Podia itself dropped its free plan on October 14, 2024 and now offers a 14-day trial instead.

Which Podia alternative is best for selling digital downloads?

Whop and Systeme.io keep costs lowest. Whop's Files app delivers templates, ebooks and other files with no monthly fee, and Systeme.io's free plan includes a digital store with 3 products. Teachable, Thinkific and Kajabi sell downloads too, but each counts them against plan limits, such as 5 downloads on Thinkific Basic and 5 products on Kajabi Basic.

Do any Podia alternatives handle sales tax for me?

Yes. Skool is the merchant of record and files sales tax and EU VAT itself. Teachable Payments covers US sales tax plus EU and UK VAT, Thinkific pays US and Canadian sales tax on your behalf, and Whop collects and remits in the US, UK and EU for 2% per transaction. Podia, Systeme.io, Circle and Kajabi can calculate tax, but you file it.

What can't I take with me when I leave Podia?

Course structure, lesson text, community posts and site pages, because Podia has no content export or public API. Contacts, per-product customers, invoices and coupons export as CSV files, and files download one at a time as compressed copies. Subscriptions are the risky part: cancelling Podia cancels them all, so move subscribers before you close the account.
